Cara

Who Am I?

I love babies, and helping parents with their babies. As a child myself, I usually gravitated towards the babies and youngsters and started caring for other people’s babies. By the time I had my own children, taking care of my babies was second nature. I am so thankful to be in a profession where I can use my passion to help other parents with the many joys, transitions and struggles of parenthood.

I was born in England, but grew up in Connecticut, and went to University in Canada. After a huge world exploration/scavenger hunt, I moved to San Francisco in 1997 and it was instantly home.

When not working with families, I love the great outdoors, adventuring with my own family, playing with our various creatures (dog, chickens, horse, gecko), camping with friends, and having new experiences. I love San Francisco and Marin and all that it has to offer. Spending a day at the beach, on a hike, on a bike in the hills, or playing board games or cards (my more geeky side comes out here) is a day well spent.

Partner

This is my husband, Noah. I am so thankful that he has let me pursue my passion of having our own children as well as working with other babies!

Having a supportive partner helps so much. As a doula, I work with partners as well and help them figure out their involvement and help refine some skills. For those without partners, I can fill that role in many ways.

Family

There is no love like the love for your child. These are my kids, Skye (born in 2006) and Quinn (born in 2007). They are my greatest loves and my greatest accomplishments in life. Being a parent is not always easy, but I would not change it for anything.

Full Time Work

My kids are 20 months apart. The happiest and busiest time of my life was after the birth of my second child. There was hardly time to do anything but parent, and so that is what I did. I was lucky to have some support in the process, but even with help, it was an around the clock job. I love helping people so that they can experience more of the joys of being a parent.
